LAVENDER FARM GLAMPING

KEYS CREEK, CALIFORNIA

A Little Bit About Keys Creek:

Keys Creek Lavender Farm is located in Valley Center, which is about an hour outside of Temecula in California. Its approximately 2 hours from Los Angeles depending on where you’re coming from (and when you leave). The lavender here blooms in the spring and early summer and they usually have walking tours at this time. Therefore May and June are the best times to visit!

How We Ended Up on a Lavender Farm:

You mean other than the fact that I absolutely ADORE the smell of lavender?!

Well, my 30th birthday was fast approaching and I needed something special to do. I think there’s a bit of pressure on turning 30, it some how automatically spoke “adult” to me- way more so than turning 18 and legally becoming an adult ever did. I felt like there was some invisible threshold I was crossing and I wanted my birthday celebration to reflect that. My birthday fell on a Sunday in June, so I knew we could take a long weekend. Ideally I was looking for an excursion in driving distance from LA, that got us out of the city but didn’t test my stomach’s 3 hours in the car max. (yes I got a weak stomach over here).

I’d read a lot about Temecula and how it was coming up as “wine country” in SoCal. I liked this idea of going wine tasting but also yearned for some camp life. I hopped on Airbnb to see what was around in terms of unique stays and was thrilled to happen upon these yurts at Keys Creek. Keys Creek was still about an hour way from Temecula, but it offered the perfect getaway for Charlie and I before meeting up with my sister and her boyfriend for a wine tasting the next day.

The property boasts a lot features, which most of this post will get into. I think it would be a perfect girls getaway as they offer many events including yoga and high tea. In addition to the yurts they also have a s little suite you can rent out.

Accomodations:

Or, glamping in a yurt explained:

The property has 5 glamping yurts and one cottage suite. Looking for a unique experience we elected for a yurt!

All of the yurts are named for different types of lavender. We stayed in “Sweet”. Inside each yurt there is also a moroccan theme to the rooms. We found the beds comfy and were plenty warm at night. During the day it was actually quite hot in there, but hopefully thats not where you are spending your time. The yurts can each hold 4 people and sit on a sort of clearing in front of the pool that looks off into the lavender fields below.

Things to do:

Along the property there is plenty to explore, including a zen garden, a pool and hot tub, and different art and installations through out the fields. We spent most of our day just wandering around and taking pictures. After a few hours we got in the pool so we wouldn’t miss the sun! We brought some beers in cans (no glass by the pool) and enjoyed meeting our neighbors who were also lounging about.

Crystal Labyrinth

We walked it with intention, getting to the center with one of the largest crystals I have ever seen! There is definiltey an energy walking this space. There is also a little gazebo with a bench you can sit at for a peace-full moment.

The Pool

The pool are has a cabana, lounge chairs and a few tables. This is where we met most of our neighbors! Everyone was super friendly. There is also a hot tub! At night after dinner we also hopped in and marveled at the property all lit up with little fairly lights everywhere!

Walking the Fields

Charlie and took ourselves on our own little walking tour through out the property. If you arrive during the bloom season you can probably hop on a tour before check in at 3pm. We enjoyed exploring everything on our own, there was enough signage to take ourselves around and enjoy the experience.

Take Photos

This whole place is a photo op! Aside from the lavender, trees, and rolling hills everywhere, the property has so much art. There were sculptures, furniture, signage, and little knick-knacks everywhere that gave the whole place a real vibe. None of my pictures would do it justice, but the sunset was brilliant shades of red and purple.

Shop for Lavender Goodies

The shop is at the bottom of the hill and is filled with SO many lavender infused goodies. I came away with a candle, soap, buds to make lavender lemonade, an essential oil, and balm. It was quite a haul!! I simply could not resist it all.

Dinner

When you book your reservation there is the option for a catered dinner. I would 10/10 recommend this! When we went the menu included roasted chicken, potatoes, salad, and one glass of wine. I believe there was a vegetarian option available as well. Around dinner time we were sat on the patio and then the owner, Alicia, serves you. She gave us a prime spot on her deck to watch the sun set! The main house were the patio is located is so charming! I can’t wait to go back for tea or honestly any other event they might have. It’s plain to see why people hold events and weddings here. Alicia was also such a joy to chat with. We loved hearing her speak about how she came over from South Africa and her journey to starting the Lavender Farm.
